How to automount an external drive or a partition on system startup?

Many of us use external disks 🖴 to store its data, in order to avoid losing it if the computer get damaged or to keep it safe from viruses 🦠 and hackers 🐱‍💻, and most of us use cloud ☁️ storage to save its data and to recover it in case it is lost, and one of the best cloud services on the Linux operating system is MEGA as it is free 🆓 (50 GB FREE* storage) and secure 🛡️ (End-to-End Encryption), so considering that you use cloud storage client to sync your data (external drive-cloud drive), you must make the external drive auto-mounted at system startup to avoid the pain of reconfiguration ⚙️  after each reboot, so I will show you today how to do this, you only have to turn on your computer, plugin the external disk, and let's go.

To auto-mount your drive at system startup, follow this simple steps:
  1. Install gnome disk using the terminal or the software center

  2. Run gnome disk (from application menu or...)

  3. Select your external disk from the left sidebar.
  4. Now choose the partition that you want to mount at startup
  5. Then use additional options (More actions) and select edit mount options

  6. Turn off User Defaults and check mount at system startup.
  7. You can edit the mount point and the display name.
  8. Enjoy auto-sync and auto-mount with every boot.
